My Collaborative Partner Painting

I found this activity to be SO fun! I have never really been a fan of painting, but I think that’s because I feel there is always such a pressure to have your painting look perfect. So this activity was really great for me and revealed all that stress. I liked that I still had choice on my own painting, but also because it was partner work, they too had a choice. Daleen and I worked really well together I thought.

I had no plan when it came to my painting, I knew what colours I wanted to use, but I didn’t know in what order I wanted them, or how I wanted to set it up in general. When it came to placing my tape, I knew I wanted my initial in the painting, but other than that I sort of just places tape in random places. I wanted both small and large sections, so we will see how it turns out.

We got to use a mixing palate, and decide what our colour plan was for this project- whether you wanted to move from a dark colour to that same colour just lighter, if you wanted to use colours that worked well with one another based on the colour wheel, or if you just wanted to try something completely different!

I chose to use purple, green, and orange from the colour wheel because they are all tertiary, and I thought they would look really nice together. Here is a picture of the colour wheel that I based my colour choice off of, and my creation below!

My Artist Statement:

Again, I loved this assignment! The only challenges that came up were when I was trying to go off of what my partner painted, I wanted to make sure not too many of the same colour overlapped. I think my painting came out really cute overall and I am really happy with it! This is definitely something that I really enjoyed, and I would 100% do this same project in my future classroom.

I learnt that working in partners- especially with someone you don’t normally work with is actually really fun! And it also gives you a better chance to get to know other classmates. If I could do this again, I would definitely count out my squares and ensure I have enough squares to have even sections of each colour! But aside from that it was SOOO fun!!
