Coding is exciting!

This week in our EDCI 336 class, we got to explore coding! This is something I have never looked into, nor did I think I would have any interest in. When my brother was younger, he really loved the idea of computers, technology, and coding.

My brother and his coding experiences 🙂

He used to make my dad take apart old laptops of his just so my brother could learn to put them back together, so when I saw we were doing coding in this class, I got pretty excited and told my brother and he said he would maybe help, if he was feeling extra nice that day ;).

We used a ton of different websites to explore coding, but my favourite was definitely “Scratch”

I really enjoyed using this one because I found it easy to use, but it also had a ton of features that I really enjoyed. I am still not very good at coding and I find it a bit complicated, but I was able to make this name tag creation kind of thing that I am actually really proud of !!! 🙂

My Creation!

I think coding is fun, but I’m not so sure it is something I love, but so grateful for this experience!

I was also able to make a creation using the website CODE, which I thought was really fun as well, here is that creation!!!

I can definetely see my future self using this in the classroom, I think it is a really fin website that can be used to animate, as well as program your own design!

There is also ScratchJR which is primarily used on iPads in classrooms, this version had much more editing skills, and was more advanced. Whereas the JR version was more younger child friendly.
